Science Experiment - Sink Or Float?

23.9.21

Sink or Float!

Science is one of my favourite subjects. I love testing out experiments. This one went horribly wrong though. As I was putting an object into the bucket a cup dropped and cracked. Worst thing was I had to clean it up! But basically the sink or float experiment tells us to get some objects together and put them into a big bucket or container filled with water. Then we observe whether or not an objects floats, or sink.

It is Chinese Language Week so...

    Ni hao (Hello) Basset

Science was also one of my favourite subjects at school with doing experiments the best part. I liked how you introduced your work and how you mentioned that there was a problem about using a cup. Your slide presentation gave a lot of information. I wonder why the sock floated and sunk?

I look forward to reading your next blog Baset.

  2. Hey Baset!

Thanks for sharing your experiment. It looks like you did a good job following the instructions.

What do you think you learnt from your experiment? Besides not using a cup cause you might break it then have to clean up!

    Happy experimenting!

    1. Well Yeah, I did break a cup while doing this but I learnt to keep glass away from a bucket

  3. Ni hao Baset, and happy Chinese Language week to you. I celebrated this week with two lots of dumplings. My Sean is great at cooking them and I'm always sad when I get to the bottom of the bowl.

I loved Science at school as well and I went onto University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. I am still fascinated by how things work. Actually as I write this my daughter Jaime has just come out and asked my about photosynthesis (how plants make food). She is in Year 10 at Baradene and also enjoys this subject.
My nephew is experimenting with making honeycomb... have you given that a go? Google that and see if you might be interested in giving that a whirl.
See you back at school in Alert Level 2.
